On Monday, July 15 in Hot Springs District Court, Mark Danis was sentenced to three years of supervised probation on a felony charge of aggravated assault and battery — bodily injury with a deadly weapon. He initially received a prison term of four to six years with the Wyoming Department of Corrections, but that sentence was suspended for the probation.
Danis further entered a guilty plea to misdemeanor violation of domestic protection, and received a jail sentence of 180 days, with that time credited as served. Additional charges of influencing or intimidating witnesses and misdemeanor violation of a domestic violence order of protection were dismissed.
The assault charge against Danis is from a July 25, 2018 incident, during which he struck Pedro “Peter” Diaz with a long-handled ice chopper with a rectangular metal head.
As for the intimidation and violated protection charges, on Feb. 20, 2019 while out on bond, Danis called Diaz and threatened him.
