Change is inevitable

Change is inevitable. Changing weather, changing seasons, even changes in our surroundings, our beliefs and tastes.

Change is also difficult. Sometimes it takes a lot of courage to step outside of your comfort zone to take on a new project or even a new haircut.

Imagine what kind of courage it took for Easterners, so many decades ago, to decide to pack everything they could into a wooden wagon and head West. They were leaving behind everything they knew for a chance at something different.

When you think about it, it’s a good thing our ancestors decided to make that move, otherwise, we’d all be wedged into the original 13 colonies and never know the beauty that surrounds us now.

The challenge of change faces us every day in small town America.

We’ve lost businesses that have been here for years, yet we’re gaining new businesses because someone decided a change was in order and was brave enough to chase that dream.

We look at Hot Springs State Park and wonder what kind of changes are in store for us there. Yes, it is scary to think about all the possibilities, but in the end, those changes could be more than we ever hoped for, too.

When you put a seed into the warm soil, you hope for change. You hope that tiny seed will grow into something beautiful, but it will require plenty of patience.

That’s kind of where we are right now as a community. We need patience. We need courage. We need to be flexible and know that change is inevitable.
