Print Zone relocating

This month, Broadway will have a new look as the Thermopolis Print Zone moves from its current location at 521 Broadway, going a few doors west to the WOW Store.

Print Zone owner Howie Samelson said he purchased the building and the business, with the sale finalized on July 1. He did it for two reasons, he said. One was because his business is growing and he needed more space.

The second is that there is a need for a business in town to “pick up some of the slack with Shopko closing.” As part of that goal, he’ll be bringing in office and school supplies, Thermopolis souvenirs and, conceivably, some electronics. He’ll also be building the inventory for what the WOW Store has been known for, such as party supplies and craft supplies.

“Part of that goal in making this whole transition,” Samelson said, “is to make sure that the people who have been using the WOW Store for those things don’t get forced to do shopping out of town. I’m committed to keeping most of what the WOW Store has had in the past and improving on that.

“I don’t want people to be afraid that in this transition that they’re going to lose their ability to shop locally.” He add people will see changes in where products are located.

The business will be under a new name as well — Discover Thermopolis — and he will keep Flying Eagle Gallery as a tenant. His business will remain a FedEx location. He’ll also be working with other merchants in town to see if there is any interest in the products being carried by the WOW Store. Gooseberry Garden Quilt Shop, which currently share space with Print Zone, will remain where it is.

With the additional space, Samelson said as time goes on there will be some significant improvements and the ability to print things more efficiently, which opens up the ability to print different things.

Discover Thermopolis is currently planned to open Aug. 1.
