Brave Wilderness coming to town

Browsing online videos, one might come across Brave Wilderness. The videos feature information, as well as plenty of close encounters, about various animals including insects, spiders, reptiles and snakes.

But the filmmakers also take a look at those animals that no longer roam the earth, particularly mammoths and dinosaurs, and it’s this latter that is bringing them to Thermopolis next Monday to film at the Wyoming Dinosaur Center.

Angie Guyon, the executive director at the center, noted the Brave Wilderness channel has more than 14 million subscribers and views of each of their videos reach hundreds of thousands, even into the millions. With those numbers, Guyon noted, it could do a lot for the community to have them here.

Jessica Lippincott, education director for the center, sent the group an email and received a reply right back that they were interested in coming here. Guyon added Lippincott knew about the videos because her kids love it.

Brave Wilderness will be filming about Sauropods and Allosaurs, discussing potential predator and prey interactions. They will be at both the center and the dig site. Guyon said they will also feature displays in the gallery, do a gift shop scavenger hunt and talk about the future of the dinosaur center.

“I thought it would be cool. I know a lot of young kids in Thermopolis know about Brave Wilderness,” Guyon said. “I thought it would be really neat to tell a story maybe and get those kids up here during the filming. They’re very popular and we’re excited to have them.”

The Brave Wildnerness team will arrive on Monday and be here through the week.
