On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Highway patrol

Sunday, May 19

Time unavailable. Richard Greenway was arrested on a warrant for alleged failure to appear.

Monday, May 20

Time unavailable. Katy M Carlson was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Sheriff’s office

Tuesday, May 14

3:20 p.m. Initially called on a report of unauthorized use of a vehicle, the deputy was later told to disregard the call.

Wednesday, May 15

2:52 p.m. A subject was stopped and cited for no insurance and speeding. Following the initial stop, the vehicle performed an exhibition of acceleration while leaving, causing a second stop and additional citation.

3:44 p.m. REDDI report on a truck bearing out of state plates. The suspect vehicle could not be located.

Thursday, May 16

3:48 p.m. While on patrol, a deputy came across a speeding vehicle. Upon contact with the driver, a six-pack of beer was observed in the vehicle with at least two cans missing. The driver, Edgar D. Calhoun, was put through field sobriety maneuvers and failed.

A drug recognition examination was also performed and it was determined Calhoun could be under the influence of an additional substance. He was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

9:58 p.m. A complainant at a hotel reported hearing people outside saying they intended to kill him. The call was unfounded.

Saturday, May 18

1:16 p.m. Report of an inmate trying to flush clothes down a jail toilet. A second report of the same inmate trying to flush clothes came in at 3:27 p.m.

Sunday, May 19

12:03 a.m. A deputy was dispatched to a broken down vehicle and waited with the driver until a tow truck arrived.

4:06 p.m. A deputy watched over subjects at a traffic stop while their vehicle was searched. The subjects were later allowed to leave.

8:08 p.m. Following a 911 hang up call, a deputy learned there was a family dispute at the scene that was mostly verbal in nature.

Tuesday, May 14

8:22 a.m. A gray rolling suitcase was located and was unclaimed as of Tuesday, May 21.

10:07 a.m. A lawn mower was located in a yard. The property owner simply wanted the incident documented in case someone is missing it.

8:26 p.m. Complaint of a burning smell, though the officer was unable to locate the origin.

Wednesday, May 15

8:56 a.m. Complainant reported losing a cell phone near a fishing access point.

12:01 p.m. Report of a broken down motorcycle on the highway. The vehicle was claimed by the owner.

2:01 p.m. A subject reported receiving numerous harassing text messages and was advised on how to block the number.

10:15 p.m. Report of a family fight. One of the involved subjects was taken to another location for the night.

Thursday, May 16

1:32 a.m. An unsecured vehicle was located by an officer. The owner was contacted and he requested the officer lock the truck and keep an eye on it until he returned to town.

6:02 a.m. Complaint of French nationals camping in a business parking lot. The subjects were told they had to move along.

9:13 a.m. Report of lost keys.

12:59 p.m. Complaint of loud music from a previous night. When the officer arrived there was nobody at the given location.

1:19 p.m. Erika Taylor was arrested for alleged interference with an officer and three counts of child endangerment.

3:55 p.m. Report of a vehicle suspected in a burglary. The vehicle could not be located.

5:10 p.m. Complaint of a trailer parked on someone’s property. The trailer was moved.

5:59 p.m. Subject called looking for information on a case filed last year.

6:59 p.m. Assistance provided in assembling a car seat.

9:08 p.m. Robert L. Richter was arrested on a warrant.

Friday, May 17

12:22 a.m. A subject from out of town was contacted and said he was looking for someone’s house. However, the vehicle was observed driving up and down alleys and later left town.

11:49 a.m. Two subjects were located together, though a court order states they are not allowed to be. The matter was forwarded to the county attorney.

6:42 p.m. A subject was accused of driving without a license, but when the officer responded the vehicle in question was cold to touch.

Saturday, May 18

5:42 a.m. An officer was called to assist with an inmate.

8:58 a.m. Caller reported a strange vehicle in the area and was questioning the bill of sale.

2:32 p.m. Officer responded to a property line dispute.

11:33 p.m. Report of an incident at the wooden park in which some juveniles had some air soft guns that were making others nervous. No shots were fired.

Sunday, May 19

1:39 p.m. Report of a vehicle vs. deer accident.

9:49 p.m. A vehicle died at an intersection, and an officer remained on scene until it could be started again.
