Construction in HSSP

If you’ve been through Hot Springs State Park lately, you may be wondering why the road into the Buffalo Pasture is closed.

According to State Park Superintendent Kevin Skates, the section of road between the cattle guard leading into the pasture and the cattle guard that marks the boundary of East River Road is currently under construction.

The project was supposed to be finished by the first of June, however, all of the rain we’re experiencing is setting the project behind. The rain is hampering their ability to compact the ground properly before they can put the new road surface down.

Because of the weather, Skates cannot give a definite completion date.
