I know we’re all getting a little tired of the rain, but you cannot beat this time of year when all those showers not only bring flowers, but all of the green that rambles over our red hills.
The lawns in Hot Springs State Park are already looking spectacular and a drive through the buffalo pasture shows the green grasses filling in nicely.
Of course, that also means we have to find time to mow our own lawns as the rain is definitely making them grow at a ridiculous pace. Finding just the right window of opportunity to mow when the grass isn’t wet is tricky.
Plants have arrived locally and now the excitement of getting them into the garden begins, too.
I’m lucky this year that I’ll have some little hands to help me. My grandson has his own garden gloves and tools, so he’ll be helping “Grammy” get all the daylilies, poppies and gladiolus in the ground.
My daughter, who is a track coach in Colorado, is already bragging about her tan. Yes, I’m jealous. But it won’t be long until we have days of sunshine between sprinkles.
Green has always been my favorite color, especially in spring.
