Raymond William "Monk" DeVries Jr. passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, at Riverstone Hospice in Billings, Mont.
Born November 27, 1967, in Cody, Wyo., he was one of three children of Raymond Sr. and Cynthia (Everett) DeVries. In 1971 the family moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., where Monk attended school, graduating in 1986. He attended Casper College graduating with a Diesel Mechanic certificate.
His love for the trucking industry brought him back to Thermopolis where he worked in the family owned R&C Trucks business.
In 1991 Monk married Rhonda Perrie. To this union was born two children, Averyona Jane DeVries and William Raymond DeVries. The couple later divorced.
An artist, Monk could draw, paint or fabricate anything. He loved motorcycles, snow skiing, camping, was an accomplished fly fisherman and was an excellent cook.
He is survived by his parents of Thermopolis; daughter, Averyona DeVries of Casper; and son, William of Thermopolis; brother, Shawn (Lily) of Thermopolis; sister, Dena (Jonathan) Griffle of Columbus, Mont .; nephews, Will and Jake; and nieces Alaina Griffle and Silvanna DeVries.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. at Mortimore Funeral Home. The family requests bright colors be worn, no black.
