Tony Deromedi recently attended the Thermopolis Town Council’s April 16 meeting, during which council approved a liquor license transfer to him. The following day, the property known most recently as Loonie’s Bin, but which was once known as The Buckboard and as a gas station in its years, closed.
In just over a month, Deromedi expects to open the door on the new Healing Waters Tavern. He looks forward to offering a new place for people — residents and tourists alike — to have fun, day or night.
Deromedi said he grew up in this setting, as his parents owned Jerry’s Place in Kirby for 24 years and he got experience with the kitchen, dining room and bartending, and truly enjoyed the business. He’s happy his new venture will employ a few more people in town and make for one less empty storefront.
As for the drink menu, Deromedi’s wife, Monica, has come up with some cocktails themed around various places and things in the county. He plans to feature a lot of Wyoming-made spirits and beer in the drinks and on tap. Though no food is planned at this point, the liquor store and drive up window will be open.
Tentative hours for the business are 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Sunday.
