On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff’s office

Wednesday, March 13

8:24 a.m. Report of a suspicious vehicle on Owl Creek Hill. The vehicle was gone when the deputy arrived.

1:44 p.m. Report of a vehicle with a blown tire in the canyon. The vehicle was located but there was nobody in it.

3:47 p.m. Report received of one inmate striking another. The offending inmate was cited for simple assault.

10:13 p.m. Call about juveniles in a broken down vehicle on East River Road. Upon responding, the deputy determined one of the juveniles was intoxicated. Following a breath test, the juvenile was cited for minor in possession.

Friday, March 15

5:04 p.m. Report of a truck passing on a double yellow line. The suspect vehicle could not be located.

7:46 p.m. Deputy was contacted about being scammed by someone claiming to be from Publishers Clearing House. Money was sent to the scammer and the matter has since been forwarded on to the U. S. Postal Inspection Service.

Police department

Tuesday, March 12

1:13 a.m. Report of someone attempting to break into a home. The officer did not see any such signs.

11:55 a.m. Danny J. Anderson was arrested for alleged domestic battery.

1:37 p.m. Complainant saw a male subject entering a house with a gas can and though he meant to harm himself. The subject needed to carry the can through the house to get it to the backyard.

3:09 p.m. An unruly juvenile at school was turned over to his parents.

Thursday, March 14

8:12 a.m. A female subject was cited for not having proper insurance or registration

6:20 p.m. A male driver struck a parked vehicle. A damage estimate is pending.

Friday, March 15

1:20 p.m. Complaint of a driver passing a bus that had its stop arm extended.

9:22 p.m. Report of money stolen from a church.

Saturday, March 16

9:37 a.m. An officer responded to a verbal argument. The involved parties were separated.

Sunday, March 17

10:33 a.m. Report of a broken window. It was found the window was cracked, but not to the point where entry could be gained.

4:44 p.m. Jonathan D. Jones was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Circuit court

Christopher A. Taylor was found guilty of domestic battery and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 88 days suspension and one year supervised probation. Fees and fines are $205.

Ashley A. Leary was bound over to district court for two counts of possession of a controlled substance, one count of manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance and conspiring to commit a felony.

Mark K. Danis was bound over to district court on charges of influencing a juror, witness or officer and violating a protection order.
