Bobcat basketball players named All-Conference

The Wyoming Coaches Association has voted on which 3A boys and girls basketball players they believe are the best in the East and West, and Dustin “Duder” Harvey and McKenna Bomengen have been selected as All-Conference for the 3A East division.

Lady Cats coach Matthew McPhie said of Bomengen, “McKenna did a great job for us this past season. I believe she grew as a player, as a playmaker, and most importantly, as a teammate.

“She averaged nearly 12 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game. 2.5 assists per game and led our team in steals with an average of two per game.

“Bomengen really bought into what we were doing on the court. She plays with intensity, and she has an uncanny desire to be successful. She works extremely hard on her game and puts in countless hours of extra work.

“She’s well deserving of this honor and we as a coaching staff look forward to her continued development between now and into next season.”

Bobcat coach Shane Corpening, speaking of Harvey, said, “Duder had a very solid season for us this year. He was our top scorer this year and was voted on by his teammates to be our team captain for this season. He is a very hard working kid who has bought into the weight room and our off-season development program.

“As this season progressed, it became apparent to me that our opposition had to game plan around him. He has great penetrating abilities and can knock down the three point shot as well. He was our lone representative on the 3A All-Conference team and has a very good chance at being All-State next year. I’m very proud of him and he is very deserving of this accolade!”

Harvey averaged 10 points, four rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game. Among his scoring accolades were 28 points against Greybull and 21 points against Worland.
