David "Scott" Sorensen, 41, passed away March 9, 2019, surrounded by his loving family after battling liver disease.
Scott was born March 9, 1978, in Worland, Wyo. During childhood, Scott spent time in Thermopolis, Wyo., Vernal, Utah, and Sidney, Mont. He enlisted in the US Army after high school, proudly serving as a Military Police Officer. After leaving the Army, Scott moved to Wright, Wyo., where he met the love of his life, TyLea. Through the years, Scott lived in many places, but Campbell County was always home.
Scott had many talents growing up but loved wrestling, football and team roping the most. He also had a special way with horses and loved breaking horses with his Grandpa Russ. His love for horses continued throughout his life and he passed this love along with his love of rodeo to his daughter, Alix.
Scott was a social, active man who was deeply involved in wrestling and coached for the Camel Kids Wrestling Club in Gillette, Wyo. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, but most of all he enjoyed teaching his children these things. Scott enjoyed cooking, with his specialty smoking different foods on his Traeger, working and succeeding to perfect those skills. He was always happiest mat-side as he coached his sons in wrestling, and on the football field coaching all three of his kids.
Scott is survived by his wife, TyLea; sons, Jarek and Brody; daughter, Alix; father, Basil (Kathy) Sorensen; sisters, Shila (Cory) Johnson, Samantha Grant, Ashley "Nikki" (Charlie) Reed, and Boe (Fili) Rodriguez; brothers, Skyler (Jenni) Grant and Seth (Mercedes) McCament; grandparents, JoAnn and Dee Cozzens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Russell and Darlene Sorensen; uncle, Wade Sorensen; and cousin, Matthew Schon.
Memorial services are pending and will be held at a later date.
