Don't fall for the scams

I realize that scam attempts have been discussed at several places and in several ways around town, but I would like to write about it once again. [Monday] night a friend lost thousands of dollars due to a Social Security scam. If someone call saying they are from the Social Security Administration, they are scamming you. I almost got caught up in the same scam.

If someone says you won money but have to pay an administrative fee first, you are being scammed. If someone claims they are a relative and need bail money, you are being scammed.

These are but a few examples of current scams. I suspect there will be new scams in the future. Never give away your hard-earned money without verifying the situation independently of the scammer. If they say not to tell anyone, you are being scammed.

I know this is not new information, but scams happen every day. Do not fall for them.
