Spring planning

Its out there, I know it is.

Elusive Spring.

Understandably, its hard to believe we are just a few short weeks from what the calendar tells us is the first day of spring. After all, I still have ice in my driveway and snow in my backyard, but its coming. Eventually.

Spring fever hit me a couple of weeks ago and I found myself on the Internet pouring over seed catalogs and bulb companies, looking for something bright, beautiful and easy to grow. OK, I may have over done it.

Soon there will be boxes arriving on my doorstep with daylilies in all different colors. Asian lilies, Oriental lilies, Lily Trees...they’re all coming. They will go with the dozens of tulips I planted in the fall, provided they didn’t freeze their little bulbs off in January.

Red, white and blue Gladiolus will be planted as will Teddy Bear sunflowers.

Oh, and then there are the moon flowers and the morning glories that I hope to train to go up the pillars on the front porch. And as soon as they’re in, I’ll be heading to the hardware store for some petunias, too.

In the meantime, I will need to figure out the best placement for the automatic drip system.

Not the system itself, really, but where to put in the little nozzles for the best coverage. How hard can it be? I mean, I have that little hole-punchy thingy to make it easier to get them into the rubber water line.

Of course, I may have bitten off more than I can chew in a single spring. Especially for someone who has a rough time with an artificial Christmas tree.
