Massage business opens doors

LK Essentials and AromaTouch officially opened in January, with Lindsey Bowman providing massages that utilize essential oils.

Bowman said she did her first massage here on Jan. 15, though she previously had an office in Casper for a little over a year, doing the same thing, but she moved to Thermopolis more than a year ago.

Bowman graduated from the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) program at Casper College in 2005. She further attained certification in the AromaTouch technique, which she has had for three years, and she is working to obtain her certification in hot stone massage.

AromaTouch combines the use of essential oils with massage, Bowman said, which is what she loves about it as it brings together the oils with the medical world. The massages are an hour long, focusing from the lower back to the top of the head and the bottoms of the feet.

“It’s a methodical process. We focus on the energy meridians that run up your back and visceral contact points.” She further explained old medicine uses the meridians to control the flow of energy in the body, and these meridians are located along the back and the feet from the heels to the toes. She likened it to pressure points.

Bowman has eight oils she regularly uses, though that can be modified if needed as she would rather people be comfortable. The first two oils used are for stress reduction, the second two are for immunity support, the third two are for body discomfort and the last two are to elevate the mood and help the nervous system.

The first six oils are used all over a person’s back, head, neck and shoulders and the last two are used on the feet, as well as the back. The technique is super relaxing, Bowman said, “and falling asleep is totally okay.”

Massages are available by appointment only, and Bowman is fairly flexible for times. Appointments can be made through Facebook or calling 307-797-1078.
