Rec. district start smart sports programs begin

The Hot Springs County Rec Department has started registration for Start Smart Sports, including basketball, soccer and baseball.

Registration for basketball runs through Feb. 25. For soccer, the registration ends April 1 and for Baseball, registration needs to be done by May 13.

There is a $15 registration fee for all three sports.

The program is for all kids from three to five-years old and is a non-competitive, one on one with the child’s parent, which focuses on developing fundamentals of each sport to teach the basics.

Parent participation is required for these programs.

Parents can sign up thei child for any or all of the sports online at hscrecreation.com or at the armory building between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Space is limited to 20 children per sport and is on a first come-first serve basis.
