Brandon Dermodi named Champion for Children

The second Champion for Children in Hot Springs County School District #1 was chosen recently, Brandon Deromedi.

Deromedi will join three other Champions this year for a chance to be named Teacher of the Year for the 2018-2019 school year.

A member of the district's outstanding PE/Health Department, Deromedi is also the District's Activities Director, District Trainer and shares time at the high school and the middle school.

A 2003 graduate of Worland High School, Deromedi received his Bachelor's of Science degree in kinesiology and health promotion-athletic training from the University of Wyoming. He also graduated with his Masters in Educational Administration in 2010 from the University of Nebraska.

His second Masters was received from the University of Nebraska-Kearny in 2015 in PK-12 PE and Health Education.

Along the way he worked with the Arizona Cardinal football team as an athletic trainer and worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years with the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

He worked his way from an outreach athletic trainer to the school district with Gottsche to his current position as a PE/Health teacher and Athletic Director for the district.

"I feel very honored to have been chosen as the second Bobcat Champion for Children, but know that I wouldn't have been selected without the help of students and staff," he said. "We have amazing kids in this town that are always open to trying new things.

"Our staff also works tremendously hard for the benefit of students and I feel we provide opportunities that may not be seen in any other school district. I also wouldn't be where I am today without the trust, support and hard work of our administration, my colleagues, my family and our community. I am very fortunate to be able to serve this community and school district."

The Teacher of the Year will be awarded in the spring.
