Engines presentation planned at HSC Historical Society meeting

The next meeting of the Hot Springs County Historical Society will be on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Museum.

The program will be “History and Building of Hit and Miss Engines,” presented by John Vietti.

Vietti has been building model “hit and miss” engines for 35 years. These are accurate working scale models of the originals, and are not built from kits.

He has put together a machine shop where he can make the parts and components from castings and pieces of metal.

In addition to building these engines, he has also developed and designed unique small magnetos and has published an article in hobby magazines to encourage others to become interested in magnetos.

Vietti will present an overview and history of these unique engines. He will brig along several of the engines he has built, and the highlight of the presentation will be a demonstration of his running model engines.

This meeting is free and open to anyone interested in the history of Thermopolis, Hot Springs County and Wyoming. Refreshments will be served.
