Adult basketball begins in January

Time to start filling those rosters and practicing your layups for the Hot Springs County Rec District’s Ault Basketball League.

District Director Anja Abbott said signups will begin after Christmas, with team sheets due Jan. 18. There will be a managers meeting on Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m., at the armory, and games are scheduled to begin on Jan. 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the middle school.

Teams can have a maximum of 10 players, and the cost is $225 per team.

Those who are looking to burn off some holiday calories, get an early jump on resolutions for 2019 or just add a few steps in the day can check out the Walk Across Wyoming program from now through February. Participants can walk as many laps as they choose at the armory, with some laps having corresponding stops.

While also helping to stay fit, the walking program can help counteract seasonal effective disorder due to people becoming less active due to cold weather.
