Team places fifth overall
Coach Toby Emery stated the team has been working the past couple weeks on technique, intensity while drilling and overall conditioning, and planned to approach the conference with a "nothing to lose attitude, leaving it all on the mat with no regrets.
"At this level, we strive to teach our athletes the importance of work ethic, discipline, and the importance of team. We, as coaches, have seen a positive change in each of these areas. We practice together; we compete together; and we have fun together!"
Emery was hopeful "to see each wrestler end their season on a good note, beating someone they have lost to in previous weeks or placing and earning a medal for their hard work and dedication.
"I'm extremely pleased with the overall performance our wrestlers displayed this weekend! They definitely showed up to wrestle."

"Overall," Emery said, "we had a lot of kids step up their intensity offensively and grind out some close matches. We have been preaching week in and week out, 'Good position, constant motion and attack, attack, attack.' Most of our boys stuck to the plan and followed through; it was a fun tournament to watch. The team ended the season on a positive note and I couldn't be more proud!"
"Winning is certainly not everything, but feeling like you've succeeded certainly boosts a person's confidence ten-fold. I'm proud of the team and wish our eighth graders the best of luck transitioning to the high school next year. Our current sixth and seven graders will be stepping into a leadership role for next season being role models for upcoming teammates."
Emery also expressed his appreciation to all of the coaches, wrestling families and fans for the support they've shown the team this year.
