Ronald Eugene 'Ron' Brown

Ronald Eugene "Ron" Brown, 75, passed away suddenly December 6, 2018, in Billings, Mont.

Born February 20, 1943, in Thermopolis, Wyo., he was the son of Ernest "Nate" and Bessie (Hagan) Brown. He attended school at Grass Creek and graduated from Hot Springs County High School in 1961.

Ron married Carla Jo Nelson August 21, 1960, in Thermopolis. They ranched from 1960-1978. During that time Ron was also a school bus driver. For the next 20 years, he was employed by Marathon Oil, retiring as Safety Supervisor. He then became a pumper as an independent contractor.

A member of the Round Top Rangers in his younger years, he was president of the Local Stock Growers Association in 1965 and a member of the Square Dance Club and Model Airplane Flyers Club. His interests included welding, gardening, 4-wheeling, old cars, rock hunting, fishing, music, dancing and Redneck jokes.

He is survived by his wife, Carla of 58 years; daughters, Ronda Jo (Rocky) McLean of Meeteetse and Darcy Denise (Dan) Morris of Thermopolis; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons and one on the way; four step-great grandsons; sister, Shirley Spuhl of Meeteetse; and two half-brothers, Russell Dowdy of Thermopolis and Fred Dowdy of Greely, Colo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a half brother.

Funeral services will be Friday, December 14, 10 am at Mortimore Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Cooper of Community Church officiating. Burial will follow at Monument Hill Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Fire Hall on 14 St.
