TMS wrestlers prep for conference

Last week, the Thermopolis Middle School Wrestling Team travelled to Cody for a quad dual on Thursday, Nov. 29, and to Riverton for a tournament on Saturday, Dec. 1.

Coach Toby Emery stated, “In Cody, we dualed Powell and Worland, winning 15 out of 41 matches. On Saturday, three of our wrestlers placed in the top four at their respective weights. Roedy Farrell took first at 135 pounds, Ethan Music claimed third at 125 pounds and Colter Price placed fourth at 85 pounds.

“There were 14 teams that participated in the tournament and plenty of tough competition throughout all the weight classes. The boys have shown a lot of progress since the beginning of the season. They’re starting to put more combinations of moves together and react more fluidly to situations. Most of the wrestlers won at least one match at the tournament, which is a huge confidence booster.”

As for this weekend, Emery said, “It’ll be exciting to watch the boys compete at conference. They’ve really been working hard and have their sights set on wrestling at home in front of their home crowd. This Saturday, we will be hosting the middle school conference meet at Thermopolis High School starting at 10 a.m.”

The weekend also marks the first meet for the high school wrestling team, who will compete at the Powell Invitational Friday and Saturday.
