On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday, Nov. 13

1:11 p.m. Report of property damage, which turned out to be a civil dispute between a landowner and tenant.

Wednesday, Nov. 14

1:55 p.m. A deputy provided traffic control on Highway 20 South after a semi lost part of a load of hay.

Thursday, Nov. 15

1:44 a.m. Following a traffic stop, Jerry D. Martinez Jr. was arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine.

7:04 a.m. Report of a dispute on Red Canyon Road. While en route, the deputy was advised the situation was taken care of.

1:42 p.m. Assist Department of Family Services (DFS) with a urine analysis.

3:05 p.m. Two subjects reported their vehicles had been tampered with.

Friday, Nov. 16

10:04 a.m. Report of a stolen credit card and fraudulent charges. The matter is under investigation.

11:23 a.m. Assist DFS with a urine analysis.

12:17 p.m. A deputy provided a civil standby.

3:31 p.m. Assist DFS with a urine analysis.

9:11 p.m. Complainant reported receiving threatening text messages.

Saturday, Nov. 17

12:48 a.m. Report of an accident. A vehicle slid down an embankment due to icy roads.

12:50 p.m. Report of an accident, though the deputy drove to the county line and did not see any vehicle or person in need of assistance.

6:32 p.m. Vehicle vs. deer accident from which the vehicle had to be towed.

Sunday, Nov. 18

1:26 a.m. Vehicle vs. deer accident. The vehicle was not severely damaged and was driven back to town.

Police department

Tuesday, Nov. 13

10:04 a.m. A tablet device was found and returned to its owner.

11:33 p.m. A subject was showing suicidal tendencies, and was able to get care from available family.

Wednesday, Nov. 14

1:20 p.m. Accident in which a vehicle backed into another. There was minor damage.

5:42 p.m. Reported burglary from a storage unit at an apartment complex.

Thursday, Nov. 15

10:58 a.m. Complainant was contacted by someone stating he worked with a debt collection agency. It was suggested the complainant call the number back to verify the company’s identity.

11:19 p.m. Reported burglary of storage units. The incident is under investigation.

Friday, Nov. 16

11:18 a.m. Report of a found laptop.

12:12 p.m. Report of a dead cat in the road. The animal was picked up and disposed of.

4:24 p.m. Complainant received a call about pending litigation, which was highly suspected as a fraud attempt.

6:31 p.m. Report of juveniles knocking on doors and running away.

Saturday, Nov. 17

4:32 a.m. Report of an intoxicated subject who was making threats. John R. Murphy was later located and arrested for alleged driving under suspension and driving without an interlock device.

9:23 a.m. Report of a disabled vehicle blocking an intersection. The vehicle was later moved.

11:22 a.m. A manager of a storage unit reported a renter was in arrears. The manager put his own lock on the unit but later found it had been cut.

12:09 p.m. Following a traffic stop for speeding, the officer detected an odor of marijuana. After a search of the vehicle, the driver was cited for possession of a controlled substance, open container and speeding. The passenger was cited for possession of a controlled substance.

Sunday, Nov. 18

4:52 p.m. Officer responded to a fight between two subjects.

Circuit court

Daryl R. Moss was found guilty of driving under the influence and was sentenced to 10 days in jail with 10 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation.

Tina Sani was bound over to District Court on a charge of manufacture or delivery of meth.
