Members of Hot Springs County FFA braved the weekend weather to travel to Buffalo for the annual FIRE/CPC conference.
Geared toward younger members or members who want to learn new leadership techniques, FIRE urges the freshman and sophomore members to discover their passions, define their virtues and how to explore them as well as how to distinguish if their decision making skills lead to a virtuous life.
They also evaluate the culmination of those passions, virtues and decision making skills to define their character and create goals and personal growth plans.
Attending FIRE from Hot Springs County were Kamery Bowman, Layne Myers, Autumn Brawley, Hallie Martinez, Ally Taylor, Shelby Vincent, Eli McCumber, Cadence Steadman, Anthony Sword, Tatum Vialpando, Riley Shaffer, Eli Dickey and Kiara Warman.
The other portion of the conference, CPC, is the Chapter President’s Conference for officers or older members who want to learn more about making plans and building a succesful program.
Attending that portion of the conference was Chandler Maddock, Jeffery VanAntwerp, Barb Kissel and Rebekah Johnson.
FFA Advisor, Britton VanHeuele said the kids learned a lot while they were at the conference, and have talked a lot about different things they’d like to implement in the local chapter, but haven’t pinned down anything specific yet.
There were roughly 750 members from about 53 chapters at the conference and our members really enjoyed themselves, especially meeting other members from all over the state.
