Pheasant season opens next week

The warm weather we’ve been experiencing this fall is perfect for the opening of Pheasant season, coming up Nov. 3.

Most areas open in November and are closed by Dec. 31.

The Wyoming Game and Fish website has plenty of information on how many birds may be taken in a single day, dependent on hunting area, along with limitations on whether you can bag a male or female bird.

Hot Springs County is included in Area 1 for Pheasant hunting which allowes a daily limit of three birds and nine in a hunter’s possession. Male Pheasants only are allowed in our hunting area with shooting hours beginning a half-hour before sunrise and ending at sunset.

Resident and non-resident hunters over the age of 14 must be in possession of a hunting license for game birds along with the proper conservation stamps.

If you are hunting Pheasant outside Area 1, please refer to the area descriptions on the Wyoming Game and Fish website at wgfd.wyo.gov.
