Drama club working on fall showcase

The Hot Springs County High School Drama Club has been working hard on their Fall Showcase along with their procenium piece, in preparation for State Drama, Dec. 1 in Rock Springs.

Drama Club director, Mary McGillivray said the students are working on a variety of pieces, both varsity and novice level, including monologues, duets and even some musical theatre pieces, solos and duets.

There are also design pieces the students are working on and make-up projects, including realistic and fantasy.

Original scripts, lighting, sound, sets, publicity, costuming, short film and stage management are all part of the state competition.

For their procenium piece, the group will perform “The Lottery,” by Brainerd Duffield, based on the short story by Shirly Jackson. “The Lottery” has been hailed as one of the winningest plays for young people at state competitions.

Dates for the public performances of the Fall Showcase will be announced in November.

Drama club members include Emily Anderson, McKenna Bomengen, Ashley Brawley, Michelle Burgess, Katie Burrows, Josiah Butler, Cole Christiansen, Sequoia Fishbaugh, Sarina Guyon, Aaron Hanson, Hannah Hu, Tyler Kay, Taydee Landrum, Bree Lanik, Hayden Little, Shila Little, Ben Manning, Karissa McGarvie-Balstad, Krynn McGinty, Savana Meier, Ryan Miller, Kyle Mosser, Ramsay Owens, Seth Parker, Breeze Petty, Jacob Randall, Lane Randall, Jack Ream, Aime Robinson, Rebecca Shermer, Kaylee Shook, Michael Slagle, Ryan Slagle, Jarek Sorensen, Elizabeth Wagstaff and Jean-Luc Willson. Assistant director is Jenny Manning and drama assistant is Shelly Burrows.
