The Hot Springs County Recreation District Adult Co-ed Volleyball League has started up for 2018, bumping, setting, spiking and digging at the high school court every Wednesday beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Compared to last year’s six teams, Rec Director Anja Abbott noted there is seven this year. Among them are Benny and the Sets, Here 4 Exercise, Setting Ducks, Gassed by Gottsche, Owl Creek Graphics, How I Set Your Mother and TBD. Abbott explained this last name came from the team’s inability to decide on a name and leaving “to be determined” in the blank. However, they didn’t come up with a name in time so they were stuck with TBD.
There are about 10 people per team, Abbott said, and four of them are looking really good but only two of them have played against each other so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
Matchups on Wednesday, Sept. 12 included Benny and the Sets against Here 4 Exercise, with Benny winning three matches — 25-10, 25-12 and 25-10. Setting Ducks took on Gassed by Gottsche, with the latter winning 25-12, 25-16 and 25-15.
Gottsche also played Owl Creek Graphics, losing the first match 22-25, but winning the next two 25-17 and 25-23. TBD won against How I Set your Mother — 25-20, 25-15 and 25-19.
On Wednesday, Sept. 19, Gottsche won the first game against Benny 26-24, but lost the second 24-26 only to come back with a 25-17 in the third. How I Set won all three games against the Setting Ducks — 25-20, 25-9 and 25-21.
