On the Record policy
It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff’s office
Tuesday, Sept. 18
10:11 a.m. Reported theft of items from a home.
Wednesday, Sept. 19
3:35 p.m. Assistance provided to Department of Family Services (DFS) for a urine analysis.
4:08 p.m. REDDI report on a vehicle. The vehicle was located and all occupants were fine. However, at 4:25 p.m. a female subject wanted to report something had fallen off a semi and struck the vehicle.
On Thursday, Sept. 20 at 4:10 p.m. it was reported the female subject made a false report of the incident and the male driver had actually gone off the road and struck a sign. The female subject was cited for false reporting and the driver was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.
Friday, Sept. 21
3:16 p.m. Assistance provided to DFS for a urine analysis.
4:27 p.m. Caller reported lost property, but found it before the deputy arrived.
Police department
Tuesday, Sept. 18
8:17 a.m. Trespassing notice served on a subject.
4:48 p.m. Report of a hit and run accident at the hospital. There was an estimated $3,000 damage.
Wednesday, Sept. 19
8:10 p.m. Reported theft, which is currently under investigation.
9:22 p.m. Officer responded to a domestic dispute which was verbal in nature. The involved subjects agreed to separate.
11:51 p.m. An officer located a vehicle with male occupants behaving oddly. Contact was made and Jack E. Hillan was arrested on a Natrona County warrant. A search of the vehicle revealed the presence of marijuana and methamphetamine, and Taylor A. Bird was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance.
Thursday, Sept. 20
7:52 a.m. Complainant reported a vehicle had been vandalized, with the outer part of its gas lid taken off.
9:36 a.m. A subject found pill-like capsules and turned them in. Upon furhter investigation it was found the pills were not a controlled substance.
3:39 p.m. Complainant wanted to report a call from someone posing as the IRS.
Saturday, Sept. 22
2:31 p.m. Officer responded to an argument over borrowed money. The subjects involved were told to handle the matter in small claims court.
Sunday, Sept. 23
1:28 p.m. Reported dispute between neighbors regarding property lines. The matter was deemed civil in nature.
3:30 p.m. Information provided on a suspect who might be coming through the area. No contact was made with the suspect.
Monday, Sept. 24
7:30 Report of an individual at the fairgrounds sleeping by a motorcycle in the sheep barn. The subject was asked to leave and did.
10:31 a.m. Caller reported someone called posing as a family member and requesting bond money. No personal information was given.
11:41 a.m. Report of someone tagging a building and dumpster with spray paint.
12:26 p.m. Reported theft of property. The matter is under investigation.
Circuit court
Katherine H. Lehrburger was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $255.
Timothy R. McKendry was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $255.
Brian Beck was found guilty of driving outside lane of travel, falsely reporting an emergency and property destruction. Fees and fines are $600.
