On the Record policy
It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Tuesday, Aug. 21
10:39 a.m. Report of a wounded antelope. The animal was dispatched.
11:34 a.m. Report of a missing firearm.
4:31 p.m. Deputy responded to a citizen dispute in the Red Lane area.
Wednesday, Aug. 22
7:48 p.m. Report of a suspicious subject in Hot Springs State Park. The suspect could not be located.
Thursday, Aug. 23
2:05 p.m. Report of a vehicle being driven erratically. The driver was located and advised of the complaint.
Friday, Aug. 24
3:14 a.m. Report of a possible break-in in East Thermopolis.
Saturday, Aug. 25
2:31 p.m. REDDI report, though the suspect vehicle could not be located.
9:45 p.m. Deputy observed a truck exhibiting acceleration in the state park. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was cited for exhibition of acceleration, no insurance in the vehicle, no registration in the vehicle and failure to use seat belt.
Sunday, Aug. 26
3:07 p.m. Report of a vehicle break-in at Wedding of the Waters.
Monday, Aug. 27
9:47 p.m. On a routine patrol, a deputy pulled over a truck that had blinding bright lights on. During the stop, the deputy detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle.
The driver, Brendan R. Garcia, failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for alleged driving under the influence, furnishing alcohol to a minor, failure to dim lights and no registration in vehicle. A juvenile passenger in the vehicle was cited for minor in possession by a police officer.

Wednesday, Aug. 22
3:42 p.m. Complainant wanted a trespass notice served. The recipient was notified by phone.
9:01 p.m. Report of a lock on a vehicle door being pushed in. There were no signs of tampering.
Thursday, Aug. 23
4:42 p.m. Complainant reported check card fraud. The card had been used at businesses not frequented by the owner and the bank is investigating the matter.
4:49 p.m. Complainant had left a pack of cigarettes in a vehicle and returned to find it half empty.
Friday, Aug. 24
10:24 a.m. A subject was towing a trailer when the hitch ball fell off. The trailer was being dragged by the safety chains, and an officer helped in getting a new ball and attaching it to the hitch.
1:20 p.m. Report of a driver passing a stopped school bus. The driver was warned.
2:41 p.m. Report of people bypassing road construction by using the railroad right of way. Barricades have since been put up.
6:27 p.m. Officers responded to a domestic dispute. An agreement was reached and the parties chose to separate for the evening.
8:42 p.m. Complainant reported an unruly child in foster care. The officer spoke with all parties involved.
Saturday, Aug. 25
2:01 p.m. Subject reported misplacing a credit card then finding transactions on his records for which he was not responsible. The matter is under investigation.
8:14 p.m. A subject was reported to be stumbling through yards. Arik A. Amundson was arrested for alleged public intoxication.
8:33 p.m. Report of fireworks. The responding officer could not locate from where they had been set off.
Sunday, Aug. 26
11:09 p.m. Report of a subject drinking from a bottle of whiskey at a business. The responding officer located a vehicle in the street with a crowd around it. One of the subjects matched the description of the suspect and the officer detected the odor of alcohol on his breath.
Two subjects admitted to drinking alcohol and contact was made with a female subject who walked away from the scene, though she kept backing away from officers.
Caleb T. Glick and Dustin K. Smith were arrested for alleged minor in possession. Kristen A. Washakie was arrested for alleged driving under the influence, furnishing alcohol to minors and interfering with an officer.
Monday, Aug. 27
12:41 p.m. Report of a tractor trailer all over the road. The matter was turned over to the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
Circuit court
Tiffanie N. Knighton was found guilty of driving under the influence, speeding and driving under suspension, and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 29 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $937.
Jeffery S. Averill was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 59 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $755.
Casey N. Andreen was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 355 days in jail. Fees and fines are $255.
Justina Y. Nelson was found guilty of second-offense driving without an interlock device and speeding, and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 150 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation.
Jacquelyn M. Tuttle was found guilty of fighting in public and was sentenced to 20 days in jail with 20 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $205.
Amanda N. Bilger was found guilty of having a BAC .08 percent within two hours of driving and was sentenced to six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $150.
Oscar O. Miramontes was found guilty of fighting in public and was sentenced to five days in jail with four days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $6
Catelynn E. Barnett was found guilty of transporting alcohol in a motor vehicle with intent to furnish to a person under 21 and was sentenced to 20 days in jail with 20 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $155.
Birth
Greyson Robert Hill was born Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital to Shannon and Robert Hill.
He weighed 8 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 22 inches long.
Grandparents are Dennis & Barb O’Keefe and Robert & Pat Hill.
