Summer trek this weekend

The Hot Springs County Historical Society and Hot Springs County Pioneer Association 2018 Summer Trek is this Saturday, Aug. 25.

The trek is for members of the HSC Pioneer Association and HSC Historical Society, and a $5 membership is required. Those who wish to be members should stop at the Hot Springs County Museum, and those attending the trek will meet at the museum at 7:30 a.m., with a prompt leave time of 8 a.m.

This year’s trek will include an all-day trip to Birdseye Ranch, Birdseye Stage Station, De Pass, De Pass Ranch (Stage Stop), De Pass mine site, Holt Schoolhouse, Bridger Trail and Twin Chimneys.

You might also catch a bit of gold fever, with stops at the Gold Nugget Mine, Williams-Luman Mine and Boysen Mining District.

The trek is for four-wheel drive, high clearance vehicles only. Attendees should also bring a picnic lunch, plenty to drink, bug spray, sunscreen and a camera.
