Your source for news in Hot Springs County

Packed full of information

What an issue it’s been

This week, we’re sure you’ll notice the paper is quite a bit larger than our weekly publication. That’s because we’re providing our readers with a final look at the candidates who are in this year’s elections.

Whether running in contended races or not, we’re hoping this section provides you with new information or refreshes your memory about the multitude of local candidates we have this year.

This past week has been a crazy one for us, working with the deadlines we set to make contact with those running for office, give them opportunities to revise their statements or take out some advertising, and we’re all a bit exhausted and ready for Aug. 21 to come and go.

While not every candidate has a statement and picture in this section, we would again recommend — as we have in past issues — that you go out and contact the candidates personally, whether it be through a phone call, face-to-face contact or just a quick phone call. Let them know your questions and concerns. This Thursday, Aug. 16 is a great opportunity to hear from the opposed candidates, with a final public forum at the high school auditorium.

And though the primary race has been an exhausting one, with the end now in sight, we’re still going to be covering it, as we have since April. So, keep your eyes on our print and online editions as we’ll have information for you right up through those final results.

But don’t forget, even tough this big political step is close to becoming a faded print, we’ve still got the general election coming up.
