During last Thursday’s meeting of the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce, the nomination committee of Amanda Kraushaar, Greg Willson and Phil Scheel presented a slate of candidates for the board elections.
Among the candidates are Vivian Butchart, Robin Griffin, Pastor Sam Needham, Bradyn Harvey, Liz Freeman and Shelly Burrows. Those whose seats are up are Butchart, Griffin and Needham, though there is also a vacancy due to the resignation of Toby Homi.
The board discussed upcoming events in the community, including the Cycle Greater Yellows tone, which saw 350 cyclists coming through the community this week, and the upcoming annual demolition derby. A recap of the Gift of the Waters parade was also done, and it was noted that this year’s parade had 46 entries.
The chamber also established a committee to work with a Live Local, Work Local tour for the community. Chamber Executive Director Meri Ann Rush explained the tour is provided through the University of Wyoming, which brings students to communities around the state to provide them with a chance to see what is available to them in terms of jobs and living when they graduate. On the committee are Griffin, Kraushaar and Lana Nicodemus.
