Samelson running for House

Howie Samelson is on the Democratic ticket for House District 28 Representative. Among the long list of concerns Samelson has heard voiced since announcing his candidacy are education, economic diversification, energy, the environment, elections and equality.

His concern for these issues and their belief that he can address all the issues that will come before the legislature prompted him to run for this position. In the last several years he has worked to address them through his work with many local organizations including Main Street Thermopolis, Hot Springs Greater Learning Foundation, Discovery Center Joint Powers Board, Gift of the Waters Committee, Wyoming Dinosaur Center and Smoking Waters Art Guild.

He feels that it is time to take his skills and bring them to a different level. The need to diversify the opinions voiced in the legislature while crafting new legislation is important. He stated he has the ability to engage in meaningful and respectful dialog to build consensus and promote compromise. He said his recently opened business in downtown Thermopolis has given him further experience in sharing in a vision for our region and our state.

He feels that he can help move forward with new ideas along with respecting and promoting the tried and true, that there is a need to present and debate all the available methods and choices.
