Willard Allred

Willard Burton Allred, 78, passed away on July 2, 2018, at the Worland Healthcare and Rehab Center. He was born on September 11, 1939, in Worland to Golden and Clara (Stanley) Allred. He spent his early years in Worland and Ten Sleep graduating from Ten Sleep High School in 1958. During his high school years, he began working for the Wyoming game and Fish at the Fish Hatchery. He helped maintain the grounds and take care of the fish. After graduation, he drove the distribution truck around the state stocking lakes. Willard held different jobs through the years. He was a propane distributor for Pure Oil and owned and operated the Wyoming Café for 10 years in Ten Sleep. He also managed a self-service car wash and gas station in Casper for 10 years. His life always seemed to come full circle back to Ten Sleep so he took a job with the Wyoming Highway Department in 1981 and decided to stay put. He retired in 1995. Ill health made him seek out assisted living in the Pioneer Home in January of 2017. He had stated that if he ever left Ten Sleep it would be to move to Buffalo or Thermopolis. Thermopolis was a good fit for Willard and he enjoyed taking part in the many activities the Pioneer Home had to offer, including the bowling leagues, shuffleboard and exercising. He loved the mountains and taking time each year to go hunting with his son, Todd. Survivors include his sons, Scott (Becky) Allred of Mesa, Ariz., and Todd (Peggy) Allred of Casper, Wyo.; daughter, Leslie (Mark) Derringer of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Lonnie of Riverton, Wyo.; sister, Myrona Lee Apland of Thermopolis; and grandchildren, Reed, Savana, Jacob and Nevies. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Stanley. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ten Sleep. Burial will follow in the Ten Sleep Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
