Happy Father's Day

It seems as though we jumped from winter right into summer this year with the high temperatures we’ve been experiencing the past couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, with those high temps and the wind that appears to go along with them, comes a faster drying out of grasses and a higher potential for fires.

Today, Wyoming has just one forest fire raging, the Badger Creek fire in the WyColo area by Laramie. It has grown in just a few days to more than 2,300 acres within the Medicine Bow National Forest.

Surrounding us are six fires in Idaho, two in Utah and five currently burning in Colorado.

Our own volunteer firemen have already been on several grass fires and we’re only in the middle of June.

Let’s remember our fire safety this Father’s Day weekend, whether you’re out camping with the family or just using the firepit in your own back yard.

And speaking of Father’s Day, you don’t want to miss the annual car show on Sunday in Hot Springs State Park. What dad doesn’t love cars?

Along with the beautiful rides you’ll find live music and can grab a little something to eat while you look them all over.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there and everyone, keep safe!
