Alberta Irene Robertson, 84, passed away on May 13, 2018, at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin.
Alberta was born on July 5, 1933, to Albert Gabriel and Alice Lillian (Veitch) Irene. She graduated from University High School in Laramie. She attended 2 years of college at UW.
On June 19, 1953, she married Rex Ramsey. To this union were born two sons, Dan and Jim. The couple later divorced. She married Bud Robertson on January 14, 1961, in Ft. Collins, Colo. Two daughters, Carole and LaNora made the family complete. The family lived and worked on the Spade Ranch near Medicine Bow until they moved the family to Owl Creek in 1969. They worked on ranches for 30 years in the Hot Springs County area where Alberta also served as a school cook for the Hamilton Dome School for many years.
She grew up ranching and enjoyed everything about ranching life. She would cook for the hay crews and brandings. If there were a crowd gathered, Alberta would be cooking for them. When she wasn't cooking she loved riding horses and taking care of the animals. She loved watching rodeos, local and national, especially the PBR (Professional Bull Riders). A highlight in her life was getting to attend the NFR (National Finals Rodeo) in Las Vegas. She lovingly kept a daily diary, carrying on a tradition from her father. She enjoyed visiting with people, going to dances and dinners and was a self-proclaimed "newspaper junkie" having numerous subscriptions to multiple newspapers and magazines and working crossword puzzles and solitaire.
She was a longtime member of the Hot Springs County Cowbells and a life-long member of the Episcopal Church, St. Luke's in Medicine Bow and Holy Trinity in Thermopolis.
She is survived by her children, Daniel (Deb) Robertson of Worland, Jim (Cathy) Ramsey of Fallon, Nev., Carole (Paul) Kordonowy of Aliquippa, Pa., and LaNora Ochs of Bullhead City, Ariz .; 8 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud; and her brother, Jim.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, June 18, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Medicine Bow, WY. Online condolences may be made at http://www.bryantfuneralhomeonline.com.
