Seeking Pickleball players

One of the more popular recreational sports one can play is Pickleball. John Brooks describes the game as something like a smaller version of Tennis or an enlarged Ping Pong match.

Brooks noted the game is widely taught in schools and is a sport for every age. Played with paddles and a whiffle ball, the game most closely resembles Ping Pong but played on a larger scale.

Brooks is currently looking for players to get a Pickleball league or association going here in Thermopolis, possibly through the Hot Springs County Recreation District. He said a group of players were playing at the armory in the mornings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings, though scheduling conflicts with other activities made it difficult. The players, Brooks said, have also used the courts in Candy Jack Park.

Brooks encourages anyone — familiar or not with the game — to look up any videos they can about Pickleball, and anyone interested in helping get a local league together can contact him at 921-9333 or Pat Powell at 307-851-5248.
