Doing what we can for public safety

Things have certainly got a little crazy in town since Friday the 13th, with regard to crimes and dangerous individuals in the area. We’ve already had subjects charged with attempted murder as well as several drug and alcohol-related incidents.

At The Independent Record, we make every effort to keep the public informed not just about the fun activities happening around town and accomplishments of our schools, organizations, businesses and individuals.

But, we also know not everything can be sunshine and rainbows, and we report on much of the darker side of things here as well. Often times, these stories are meant to not only inform the public, but remind them to be safe as well.

However, we are often limited on the amount of information we receive and, therefore, are able to disclose to the public. People are sometimes unwilling or unavailable to speak to us, or the information is restricted for legal reasons, but we strive to make those contacts in order to keep our public informed.

It certainly can be difficult, even frightening, when we don’t know exactly what’s happening during particular incidents, but we encourage you at such times to do what you can to keep yourself informed and, most importantly safe.

Assuredly, information is always forthcoming from sources who can best provide it, and your local newspaper will be there to share it with the community when it does.
