Robert was born March 26, 1933, at 1030 Clark Street, in Albion, Neb., to William and Ludella (Cohee) Whitt. At a young age, Bob lost his parents and was raised by his grandmother, Rhoda Cohee. He soon learned he had to keep up with his brothers in his chores as well as in play. He soon developed an easygoing attitude towards life. Being sensitive, he appears to be immune to the opinions of others, though he merely used it to hide his true feelings.

He graduated from Scribner High School in Nebraska on May 19, 1950. After graduation, Bob moved to Wyoming to be near his brothers. On May 25, 1950, he enlisted in the Army National Guard. In 1951, his brothers and he were sent to Korea with the soldiers of Battery A, 300th Armored Field Artillery of Thermopolis, Wyo. After the war, he was honorably discharged but remained active in the Reserves until 1993.

On August 3, 1957, Bob married Diane Jean Crowley, born December 14, 1935, the daughter of Art and Iyone Crowley. Joined to this union was one daughter, Kandus. Kandi was born September 16, 1973.

Bob worked for a time on the Burlington Railroad, later going to work for Northern Utilities/ KN Energy where he worked until his retirement in 1993. Bob was a volunteer firemen and active chief for many years. And served as a first responder for 35 years in Lysite, Wyoming. Bob belonged to the Masons Wind River Lodge #25 and was a member of the Scottish rite, as well as the Kalif's Shrine.

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and offering a helping hand to his community. He had a great love for his cats, dogs, and all wildlife surrounding him.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean Whitt; daughter, Kandus (Chuck) Brooks; granddaughters, Taylor Whitt and Savannah Masters; grandson, Colton Brooks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Robert was preceded in death by his two brothers, William Whitt and Gaylord "Slim" Whitt; and sisters, Marcella Taylor and Birdeen Cohee.

A Memorial Service with Masonic Honors and Firefighter Honors will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, April 30 at Newcomer Casper Chapel. Committal Services with Military Honors will follow at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Evansville, Wyo. Reception information will be announced at the service.
