Rush named Winter Walk champ

During those cold winter months, the Hot Springs County Rec Department hosted a Winter Walk Wyoming from November through February. Participants in the program walked laps at the armory, with corresponding destinations. When they reached a destination, they put their markers on the specific stop, with all stops on a large map at the armory.

Winter Walk Wyoming saw 12 participants, and with 2,058 miles on the map course Kay Rush was named the champion of the event.

Rush noted she tried to go to the armory every day when she could and walked a couple times each in two different courses. In one, a mile in the armory equated to three miles on the map. In the other, an armory mile was worth two map miles.

The event was very motivational, Rush said, and very fun. On the map, she noted, there was a page of history at each site and it was enjoyable making each checkpoint and reading about it.

Hot Springs County Rec District Director Anja Abbott plans to do the event for next winter as well.
