CRC fundraising for Imagination Library

Reading is a fundamental building block for all aspects of life, from work to play to school, and the Children’s Resource Center (CRC) in Thermopolis has made great strides in seeing that children of all ages have books to read.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library program was initiated in Hot Springs County in 2011 by CRC.

The program delivers an age appropriate book to a child, for free, every month until they reach the age of five.

Since then, 178 children have graduated from the Imagination Library program and 129 children in the county are currently receiving books each month.

This has been made possible through the years through donations from the Endowment Fund, the Community Fund and local individuals who have donated between $2,000 and $3,000 a year to ensure the little ones have books.

This year, to celebrate the Week of the Young Child in April, CRC is challenging folks to donate to the Dolly Parton Program in our community by dropping spare change in jars at Mack’s Market, IGA, Storyteller, the library and Shopko.

In addition, kids can participate in the “Change Challenge” for a chance to win cool prizes, too.

Simply collect your change in jars at home then deliver them to CRC by noon on April 20 and you could be the winner of a tricycle, gift certificate to the Ritz Theater or tickets to swim at the Star Plunge. The heaviest jar wins!

You may pick up a container at CRC if you would like to join in the fun.

The Ritz will be showing “Aladdin” at noon on April 14 for $5 per person with all proceeds to go to the program.
