On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Sheriff’s office

Tuesday, March 6

9:14 p.m. A call from a female subject who was highly intoxicated and wanted a drink of water. The subject was warned about misuse of the emergency call system.

Thursday, March 8

12:30 p.m. Report of goats on the highway. The animals were put back.

Friday, March 9

10:50 p.m. Report of a vehicle vs. deer accident on Highway 20 South.

Saturday, March 10

3:15 p.m. Complainant reported a blocked road in the Red Lane area.

6:10 p.m. A male subject was cited for possession of a controlled substance and no valid insurance.

6:55 p.m. Mathew Halbert was arrested for alleged driving under the influence.

Sunday, March 11

9:04 p.m. Complainant reported a vehicle had nearly struck him.

Police department

Tuesday, March 6

9:57 a.m. Report of a vehicle backing into another. The responding officer was unable to locate the suspect vehicle or any vehicle in the area that appeared to be damaged.

Friday, March 9

9:36 a.m. Kristopher D. Jacobs was arrested on a warrant.

12:09 p.m. Report of a vehicle driving erratically.

1:48 p.m. Assistance provided to the sheriff’s office to move an inmate from one cell to another.

3:57 p.m. Officer initially responded to a report of burnt marijuana odor at an apartment building. Upon arriving, the officer observed a subject aiming a 1911 model pistol out a window at someone standing on the grass.

The officer later verified that the gun was actually an air pistol made to look like a real gun, and the owner admitted to smoking marijuana but did not have any in his possession.

10:44 p.m. Report of an intoxicated male subject walking into town. The subject was not located at first, but was later found in the backseat of a vehicle pulled over for a traffic stop.

10:47 p.m. Report of a subject speeding and driving under the influence. The driver was contacted and was found to be not intoxicated, but was warned about speeding.

11:30 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a driver who was speeding and was possibly intoxicated. The subject was not intoxicated and was given a warning.

Saturday, March 10

1:31 p.m. Report of a stolen vacuum cleaner. The complainant later found the appliance.

4:55 p.m. Subject reported two juvenile males in a vehicle would not leave her alone. The report was unfounded.

Sunday, March 11

4:18 p.m. Subject was found asleep on the front lawn of the library, but stated he was waiting for a friend to pick him up.

5:37 p.m. Officer responded to a dispute between subjects in a store. The dispute was all verbal, and all involved went their separate ways.

6:45 p.m. Report of a vehicle parked in a haphazard way that rolled into traffic. The owner was contacted and secured the vehicle.

9:11 p.m. Report of forced entry into a property. Though the door frame was broken, there was no sign anyone had entered.

Monday, March 12

1:13 p.m. Officer responded to a report of a subject making threats toward another.

1:58 p.m. Report of two televisions delivered to the wrong location. The TVs were taken to the right address.

5:29 p.m. Subject reported someone trying to break in. The responding officer was unable to locate anyone in the vicinity, and nothing was missing from the residence.

Circuit court

Nikolas Frazer was found guilty of driving under the influence, under 21 with blood alcohol .02 percent or more an open container and was sentenced to 120 days in jail with 119 days suspension and one year supervised probation. Fees and fines are $1,040.

Keifer Tuzicka was bound over to district court on two counts of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Elisha K. Smith was found guilty of criminal trespass and was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 30 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $455.

Morgan McCain was found guilty of shoplifting under $1,000 and was sentenced to 15 days in jail with 15 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $205.

Warranty Deed: Jean Stanhope to Jean Stanhope and Dona Cramer, a parcel of land located in Lot 8, Section 13, Township 42 North, Range 95 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian.

Warranty Deed: Richard Coffinberry to Don Eiswald and Debra Eiswald, the North 62 feet of the West 20 feet of Lot 9 and the North 62 feet lof Lots 10, 11 and 12, Block 32, Original Townsite of the Town of Thermopolis.

Warranty Deed: Mark Range and Treasa Range to Michal Wille Jr. and Delina Wille, a parcel of land in Lot 1, Section 11, Township 42 North, Range 95 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian.

Warranty Deed: Old Bones LLC to GNI Services LLC, a parcel located in Government Lot 1, Section 2, Township 42 North, Range 95 West of the Sixth Principal Meridian.
