Those who have noticed a new face at the Hot Springs County Senior Center or heard a different voice when they call know somebody new is on staff.
Bruce Lohman took on the position of office manager at the center starting February 12.
Among Lohman’s responsibilities, he said, is making sure the bus gets to people who request rides, and making sure the counts and finances are accurate for meals served and delivered. He noted Lisa Pierce, the center director, has been adding a little bit to his duties every day.
As to why he took the job, Lohman explained his wife is disabled and he wanted to help pay off their medical bills. He applied for the job, not knowing if he’d get it because he lived in Worland, but he got the call and before he knew it the position was his.
He will continue to live in Worland, and commute every day.
Retired since 2008, Lohman used to work in California before he and his wife made the decision to move out to Wyoming. The work at the center is largely phone related, he said, as he has to coordinate a lot of people and answer plenty of questions. A lot of the position focuses on the meals, he said, and it is a high pace job.
Pierce said people are already complementing on Lohman’s professional behavior at the center and when he answers the phone, and the staff and visitors really enjoy him.
Lohman add he also gets the benefit of being able to regularly sit and visit with the seniors visiting the center.
