With 2018 being an election year, it won’t be long before we’re bombarded with political ads, campaign promises and candidates wanting to do what they can to win our votes.
At the Independent Record, we work to bring you information about the political state at the local, as well as the state level, with regular reports from representatives Wyatt Agar and Nathan Winters.
However, the abundance of information available, particularly through the Internet, provides everyone the opportunity to educate themselves about any candidate they might have questions about.
But, in addition to the people running for office there are also a number of issues out there as well, from wildlife, to financial, to law enforcement and more. It’s critical to also educate ourselves about how the action Legislature takes on bill this session affects us in Thermopolis.
True, there is an abundant source of information, and though we can’t all sit through the Legislative sessions our local representatives are also readily available to visit with by phone or if you happen to see them walking around town. If there is something near and dear to you that you think needs to be addressed, mention it to them. You never know if yours might be the voice of change.
Though the issues and candidate races are bound to get a bit hectic, asking questions and educating yourself can make a real difference in how you plan to vote.
