HSC Republican Party precinct caucus Saturday

The Hot Springs County Republican Party will hold its precinct caucus on Saturday, Feb. 17, beginning at 9 a.m. at the county annex. Registered Republicans are encouraged to attend to provide their participation and input.

Sixty delegates to the County Convention will be chosen; 20 will be chosen for Precinct 1 and 3, and 10 each for Precincts 2 and 4. During the caucus, the Republican platform, resolutions and by-law issues will be addressed.

Jim Collins, the chair of the Hot Springs County Republican Party, explained each precinct will take up resolutions, and the resolutions will go on to the County Convention, which will decide which ones pass and fail. Those that pass will go on to the State Convention on April 21.

Collins said the platform is fairly standard and resolute, but he does anticipate a couple by-law changes. He also expects Senator John Barrasso and Representative Liz Cheney to make an appearance.

Within the 60 delegates chosen for the County Convention, Collins said, are the committeemen and woman as well as the officers.

The 60 delegates will choose an additional three delegates and six alternates to go to the State Convention.
