Janice L. Franks, 82, of Thermopolis, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Janice was born in Troy, N.Y., on February 22, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Ethel Barry. In 1951, she graduated from Lansingburgh High School and earned her registered nursing degree from The Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing (Troy, N.Y.) in 1954. Janice was passionate about being a nurse. Her long career as a registered nurse began as a private duty nurse. She later worked for Central Florida Cardiology Group in Orlando, Fla., from 1956 to 1967.
A relocation to Tennessee took her to McNarry County General Hospital and later to Cal Metal Corp. in Counce. She retired from the emergency department of the Lake County, California Hospital.
Janice was involved in the Veterans Women's Auxiliary, Does, Bridge Clubs and active at the Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by her sister, Jean Kinney;
brother, Charles Barry; daughter, Bernice Peer; son, Barry Peer;
grandson, Jason Place; step daughters, Connie Van and Cheryl Chagnon; and stepson, John R. Franks, Jr.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Bernard E. Peer and John R. Franks; and son, Jeffery C. Peer.
