Harold Johnson

Harold Parker Johnson, of Killdeer, N.D., passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at his home, surrounded by family. 

Harold was the fourth child of seven born to Carol and Alta (McGarvin) Johnson in Basin, Wyo., born on August 25, 1924. Their family moved to Worland and settled in Thermopolis, Wyo., when he was 17 years old.

He started working in the oilfield driving truck, then working on the rigs for his whole career; most of those years were with True Drilling, Casper, Wyo. He met the love of his life at the A & W restaurant in Thermopolis. He and Martha Terrell were married on March 19, 1966. Their blended family consisted of Harold's daughter Judy, Martha's son Larry and her two daughters, Cheryl and Sally who Harold adopted and gave them his name along with his heart.

Harold loved to fish and go camping. He was a handy man who loved to add wonderful wood accents to every home they lived in, with the kitchen chairs that he would use as saw horses, showing the effects of his skill saw!

 Harold was a spitfire and a "kidder". He never met a stranger and he would always put a smile on your face. He would make you question if he was telling the truth or just "pulling your leg!"

He was committed to his vows to love Martha for better or worse, richer or poorer, in sickness and health. He was Martha's friend and caregiver until the very end of his life. He was surrounded by Martha, Cheryl, Sally and Tim as he went home to be with Jesus. Harold loved his family and he knew his Savior, Jesus Christ.

Harold is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Martha, of Killdeer; daughter, Cheryl Huus of Laurel, Mont., and her family Scott Huus of Minnisota, Robbs (Melissa) Huus, (Kadence, Dexter and Wiley) of Montana, Crystal (Kemer) Oring, (Sable, Antigone and Dartagnan) of Montana; daughter, Sally (Tim) Dvirnak of Killdeer, and their family Joshua (Sarah) Dvirnak, (David, Lucy and Danielle) of Killdeer, Lizzie (Kory) Krenz, (Atticus, Truitt and Tatum) of Killdeer; sister, Peggy Lunt, Rock Springs, Wyo .; step-son, Larry (Marlene) Doores of Washington; step-grandson, Jeff (Amy) Miller of Washington; son-in-law, Doug Austin, and his children, Shane Lowell and Carmen Austin of Michigan; and many cherished nephews and nieces and neighbors and friends in Wyoming. 

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; baby granddaughter; and five siblings; and his eldest daughter, Judy Lowell-Austin.
