On the Record policy
It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Sheriff’s office
Tuesday, Jan. 9
6:55 a.m. Call regarding a vehicle with a door stuck open. There was no sign of forced entry to the vehicle, and there were no tracks around it.
2:58 p.m. Report of a dog running in the middle of the road. The dog could not be located.
6:33 p.m. Complainant reported items missing from her home. There was no sign of forced entry.
Wednesday, Jan. 10
4:33 p.m. Subject reported an accident, though there were no injuries and the vehicle was able to get moving again.
Thursday, Jan. 11
10:33 a.m. Brandt M. Loepp was arrested for an alleged two counts of possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence.
Friday, Jan. 12
10:11 a.m. Report of a vehicle striking a tree in the state park.
Saturday, Jan. 13
12:35 p.m. Complainant reported a vehicle was using a turning lane to pass others. The suspect vehicle could not be located.
Sunday, Jan. 14
9:33 p.m. Report of horses out on the highway. The animals were put back in their pasture.
Monday, Jan. 15
4:11 p.m. A female subject reported she was being harassed via text messages.
Police department
Tuesday, Jan. 9
8:50 a.m. Report of a vehicle passing a stopped school bus.
11:36 a.m. Chris L. Mower was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.
11:33 p.m. Complainant reported a suspicious parked vehicle. Upon contact with the occupants, the officer learned they were waiting for someone to bring them gas money.
Wednesday, Jan. 10
9:05 a.m. Complainant reported oil being dumped in an alley.
Thursday, Jan. 11
8:55 a.m. Report of a vehicle speeding by a bus that had its stop arm out. The driver was later located at the bus barn and apologized to the driver, but was also issued a warning.
4:28 p.m. Report of a bag of trash being left in the state park. The officer was able to look in the bag and determine who it belonged to.
5:15 p.m. Officer responded to a domestic dispute. Shelby L. Sharp was arrested for alleged domestic violence.
9:59 a.m. Tyler D. Asay was arrested on a warrant for a Probation and Parole hold.
12:14 p.m. In the course of arresting Asay on a warrant, drugs and paraphernalia were allegedly found on his person and he was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Friday, Jan. 12
6:36 p.m. Report of a vehicle being driven erratically all over the road. The suspect vehicle could not be located.
Saturday, Jan. 13
1:56 a.m. Report of subjects arguing over property. The property was returned to its rightful owner.
9:16 a.m. A male subject was cited for shoplifting.
Sunday, Jan. 14
12:59 p.m. Subject reported someone was coming into an apartment without permission. It was suggested the landlord be contacted about changing the locks.
Circuit court
Brandt M. Loepp was found guilty of two counts of possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 150 suspended and one year supervised probation. Fees and fines are $1,000.
Daniel L. Ford was found guilty of breach of peace and was sentenced to 10 days in jail with 10 days suspension and six months unsupervised probation. Fees and fines are $205.
