Residents should have received invitations and packs of tickets in the mail for the 2018 Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department’s Fireman’s Ball. The event will be Saturday, Feb. 10 at the VFW Club from 9 p.m. until 2 a.m.
This year the department is mixing things up a bit and will present Jerry Ward of Corpus Christi, Texas to provide musical entertainment for the evening. Ward brings an array of sounds from country music, to classic rock, to modern hits. He will even take requests.
The tickets are the key to an evening of dancing, spirits and gift certificates ranging from $50 to $300.
Those who plan to attend the ball should fill out and return ticket stubs with their donation to the fire hall, in the envelope provided with the invitation. However, tickets will be accepted at the door up until the drawing. The drawing for first through fifth place will be the night of the dance, and winners do not have to be present to win.
Envelopes can also be dropped in the red mailbox in front of the fire hall next to the flagpole at 400 South 14th Street.
Donations will go to help the department with the replacement, repair and purchase of new equipment. The department has 30 members that all volunteer their time, responding to hundreds of calls every year. The new equipment will enhance their ability to save lives during various fire and rescue operations, and is vital to what they do. The value of the equipment is $5,000 to $10,000.
