Monday in Hot Springs District Court, Hanes Hall Jr. was sentenced to five years probation and a year in jail.
The probation sentence is on a charge of aggravated assault, and the jail time is for interference with a peace officer. Hall was found guilty of both counts following a short trial in August. According to the charges, on Jan. 15 he drew a firearm, identified as a nine-shot .22 Magnum that was fully loaded, on Hot Springs County Deputy Jeremie Kraushaar.
During the trial it was shown that Kraushaar was responding to Hall’s residence in reference to his possible involvement with a hit and run accident. Upon his leaving the residence, Kraushaar felt threatened by one of the dogs at the residence and drew his sidearm.
After Hall pleaded with the deputy not to shoot the dog, he returned inside the home and later came out with the Magnum. Two other subjects were able to get the gun away from Hall and get him back inside, though he continued to fight the deputy while being arrested.
Hall was sentenced to 6-8 years in prison, though that sentence was suspended for the five-year probation sentence. As for his jail time, he was given credit for 358 days so only had a week to serve.
Andrew Gillum was sentenced to two years supervised probation for a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance. Gillum was arrested Aug. 14 after his vehicle was stopped and various narcotics were found inside. Gillum was allowed to serve his probation in his home state of Minnesota.
Also in District Court, there was a third petition for probation revocation against Tiffany Alberding. Originally sentenced on June 18, 2012 to five years supervised probation for interference with a peace officer, Alberding has already had her probation revoked and reinstated on June 16, 2014 and Jan. 25, 2016.
The charge on which she was initially sentenced stems from a Feb. 28, 2011 incident during which she fought with an officer who was removing her from the residence. The current petition for her probation to be revoked will be scheduled for a later time. He bond was set at $20,000
A petition to revoke probation was also taken up in a case Cindee Reynolds. Sentenced to 3-5 years on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor unlawful possession of meth, Reynolds’ prison time was suspended for five years of unsupervised.
During court proceedings, attorney Marcia Bean noted Reynolds had failed to meet with her probation officer and absconded several times. Though her bond was set at $5,000, it was modified to $10,000 due to the risk of her absconding again.
The petition regarding her probation will be taken up at a later date.
